It was with great sadness again that I informed you of the passing of Brother Alan Shapiro today, April 27, 2021. More details will be provided once they come in.
PARLIN – ALAN SHAPIRO, Alpha-Zeta, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was 54.
Born in Baltimore, MD, he grew up in Randallstown, MD, and lived in Bridgewater before moving to Parlin 5 years ago.
A graduate of Kean University, Al received his Bachelors and MBA in accounting. He was employed as an Accountant for Arteric Web Design in Summit. Alan was a loving father; never missing a lacrosse game or play date with his daughter. His other love was poker, where he was quite the shark! Al was instrumental in the success of World Tavern Poker, where he served as Tournament Director. He was also able to meet the love of his life, Arianne there.
Alan is survived by his loving wife, Arianne; son, Michael of Elizabeth; daughter, Rachel, of Parlin; father, Sam and his wife Clorinda of Hackettstown; mother Marsha Miller of Pikeville, MD; and brother, Jason of Springfield.
Due to Covid-19, and for everyone’s safety the family will be having a private graveside service, under the direction of MOUNT SINAI MEMORIAL CHAPELS. A celebration of Alan’s life will be held at a later date. To leave a message of condolence, please visit our “Tributes” page.
