Frederick J. Gilsdorf, assistant professor of English at Newark State College in Union, and a freelance radio and television writer, died Monday in Boston of a heart attack. He was 64 years old and lived here at 610 Salem Drive.
Mr. Gilsdorf received a B.A. degree from George Washington University and an M.A. from the University of Pittsburgh. He taught at the Newark college for 10 years. His widow, the former Pauline Gibson, survives.

N.J. Man Stricken
Fred Gilsdorf, 64, of Elizabeth, N.J., a professor at Newark State College, Union, N.J., collapsed while dining with his wife at the Statler-Hilton Hotel last night. He was dead on arrival at Mass. General Hospital.
