James H. Basile, 67, of Springfield passed away in the N.J. Veterans Memorial Home in Edison, on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007.

Born in Queens, N.Y., Mr. Basile lived in Fanwood before settling in Springfield for the past 41 years.

He worked for Oakite Chemical Co. in Berkeley Heights for 11 years, then as a director of Office Administration for Revlon Corp. in Edison for 13 years, followed by the Township of Springfield Road Dept. for five years.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Basile served on the Intrepid Battleship for two years.

Mr. Basile was the beloved husband of Dolores (nee Giusti); loving father of Lisa Basile-Puryear of Cranford, Tracey Hodo of Bridgewater and James A. of Bridgewater; father-in-law of John Hodo and Jessica Basile, and grandfather of Alexandra, Brooke, Paige and MaryGrace.
