Robert J. Conway, 71, of Middlesex, N.J., passed away on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Center for Hope Hospice, Scotch Plains, N.J.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., Robert lived in Hillside, N.J., for over 20 years and for the past 30 years has resided in Middlesex. Robert graduated from Kean University with a bachelor’s degree in secondary English. He was very active in his fraternity Sigma Beta Tau, was the president of the student body, and played varsity baseball. Mr. Conway was a school administrator for the Middlesex Borough Board of Education for 34 years, retiring in 1999. After retiring from Middlesex, he served as a clinical professor at Kean University for five years. He enjoyed spending time at his beach house at the Jersey shore with his family. He also loved attending all of his grandchildren’s sporting and school events. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Conway. Surviving are his beloved wife, Grace Conway; his children; Robert J. Conway Jr., Brian Conway and his wife, Jill, and Kelly Murray and her husband, Michael; his sisters, Anne Marie Petito and her husband, Richard, and Maureen Roth, and his seven grandchildren, Sean, Sarah, Alyssa, Michael, Brenna, Gianna and Isabella.
