Thomas Joseph Icklan Jr., 85, of Manchester, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.
Raised in Jersey City and Lyndhurst, Thomas lived in Brick and Lanoka Harbor before moving to Manchester in 2002. Thomas served his country as a fireman in the United States Coast Guard for eight years and dedicated 35 years to education as a mathematics professor at Ocean County College, where he inspired countless students.
Thomas was devoted to his Catholic faith and loved his family dearly. He leaves behind a legacy of passion, dedication, and love, always remembered for the profound impact he had on the lives of those around him.
Thomas was predeceased by his parents, Ruth and Thomas Icklan Sr., his brother Jim and Jim’s wife Judith, as well as his beloved wife, Elaine. Elaine was not only his lifelong dance partner but also his greatest companion in exploring the world, attending Broadway shows, and embracing life with a zest for new experiences. He is survived by his children Ken and Karen, and Karen’s partner Brian.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 6th, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Oliverie Funeral Home, 2925 Ridgeway Road, Manchester. The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday, September 7th, at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Church, Lakehurst. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Toms River, NJ.
