Thomas J. Lindia Jr., 45, of Toms River, an educator, died Friday at home after a long illness.
He was the vice principal of Veterans Memorial Middle School, Brick Township, for two years. He also taught in Irvington, Chatham and Lacey Township and was a vice principal at Keansburg.
He received his bachelor’s degree in 1971 and his master in administration supervision in 1976, both from Newark State College, where he was a member of the Sigma Beta Tau fraternity.
He was a communicant of St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church in Toms River, and a former Eagle Scout. He also was an associate producer of the Miss New Jersey pageant and judged various Miss America state pageants for 25 years.
Mr. Lindia was born in Newark and lived in Livingston before moving to Toms River in 1986.
Surviving are his wife of 21 years, Lynette Anderson Lindia; two sons, Thomas J. III and Matthew A., at home; his mother Mary Lindia, Toms River, and a sister, Jo Ann Malcynski, Madison.
